Hyperacidity is becoming a major health issue all over the world. A sedentary lifestyle with little or no exercise and unhealthy eating habits are the main culprits. Contrary to popular belief, it a serious disease and it should be treated as early as possible. Taking pills every time you get a heart burn is definitely not the treatment. A thorough treatment of the core issue is necessary in order to avoid complications. Complications of hyperacidity, if left untreated can be fatal.

The first complication of hyperacidity that patients may face is that the inner layer of the stomach, known as the mucous membrane may get damaged because of its soft texture. This may lead to severe pain in the stomach. If the patient is not treated, it may lead to formation of ulcer. A stomach ulcer will cause a lot of discomfort and pain to the patient. It may also lead to perforation of the stomach. Treating an ulcer in its early stage is not very difficult.

An untreated ulcer will cause further damage to the mucous layer of the stomach. The third layer of the stomach will get affected which can lead to perforation. The patient will suffer from constipation and indigestion. If still left untreated, the condition could even lead to stomach cancer, which has been known to be fatal in lots of people.

Hyperacidity is a serious condition and it should be treated as such. It is essential to visit a medical practitioner if a bout of hyperacidity lasts for more than two weeks. Complications of hyperacidity can be untreatable sometimes. Practicing a healthy lifestyle is one of the best precautions.
